Dynamo Kyiv - Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 (1-1)
Goals: 1-0 Verbic (16'), 1-1 Marlos (23'/11m), 2-1 Khocholava (56', o.g.)
From the very beginning, it became clear that the opponents are ready for some open and attacking football. But it was the Kyiv team who opened the scoring: in the 16th minute, Verbic got on the end of a corner kick, heading it home off the pitch surface. The Orange-and-Blacks equalized pretty quickly: Kadar fouled on Kayode in his penalty area, with Marlos converting a spot-kick down the centre – 1-1.
The beginning of the second half saw an end-to-end action, but the hosts proved to be more successful: in the 56th minute David Khocholava, while stopping a cross by Kedziora, sent the ball into the own goal. The Miners were not distressed due to this annoying episode for a long while, with the powerful shots by Yaroslav Rakits’kyy (free kick) and Taras Stepanenko causing Denys Boyko much trouble. Kayode reached Matviienko’s delivery with his head, but failed to produce the right shot. With none of his teammates managing to get on the end of the threatening crosses by Marlos and Dentinho, while Stepanenko's shot to the right corner whizzed just inches off the post. 1-2 - the Shakhtar did not win it.
